My wife told me her friend suddenly pass away today... very young...no sickness... lost a friend. I was PAUSE a while and told her Life comes and goes easily, it is beyond our control.

BUT If we still alive now, WE SHOULD APPRECIATE OUR LIFE AND LIVE IT TO FULLEST!!!!!!

My friends, I am so proud and glad to share with you this wonderful awareness campaign by The Max Foundation.

Today, On October 1st, The Max Foundation open an awareness campaign to support our survivor friends and each other around the world, by uniting people everywhere in the fight against cancer. Read on to learn more about how you can participate no matter where you live!

How to support our beloved who has diagnose in Cancer?

" Always have to remember what is the job of a counselor and advocate: to give emotional support and to use connections and knowledge to make sure that the patient has the best opportunity. Some diagnoses are very difficult and we cannot change the course of the disease. But rest assured that being there for them, being compassionate and caring is a great support and gift to the patient." Storm

Why Are Patient Groups Important?

As you adjust to life with a cancer diagnosis, you should prioritize taking good care of yourself. This means eating healthy foods, getting enough rest, and following your doctor's advice. However, taking good care of yourself is more than just paying attention to your physical concerns. It is just as important that you pay attention to your emotional health.

One way to support your emotional health is to join a patient group, or patient support group.

What is a patient group?
A patient group is any group of people that comes together to help each other. Patients AND caregivers can participate in patient groups. Sometimes, there are special groups just for patients or just for caregivers, and sometimes patient groups are a mix of both patients and caregivers.

Patient groups can be helpful in many different ways:

Practical Information
Sometimes, talking with other patients and caregivers can be very educational. Other patients can share information they have learned, including their own personal experiences. Often times, patient groups will organize lectures or question and answer sessions with cancer experts. These are great opportunities to educate yourself and learn more about your diagnosis and treatment.

Practical Help
You may be experiencing other types of dificulties, like financial issues or legal issues. A patient group can give you a place to brainstorm with others, and find potential solutions. The group can also help you to organize fundraising events.

A Support Network
A patient group can offer a support network of people who understand. Whle every patient's experience is different, chances are you will find someone else who has many things in common with you. It will be helpful to talk to other people who can relate to you. Often, it can relieve your anxieties. You may find it very helpful to have a group of people to talk to outside of your usual circle of family and friends.

Sharing Experiences
A patient group can be a place to share experiences with others, both good and bad. Listening to others talk about their stories can be a big relief to some patients, because it can make you feel less alone. A patient group is a great place to talk not only about your hopes, but your fears, as well.

Patient groups are a great source of peer support. It teaches us not only that we can rely on each other, but that being a support to others can be very satisfying. Sharing your own story with others can ease their worries, and give people hope. It may be useful to remember that "helping you helps me."

Three cancer survivors in my family

A sharing to you..I have a good experience during this week..

Early this week i was in Malacca for 3 days, I visited my Unlce (my dad's younger bro). He had Colon Cancer, he seen now very weak.I saw him suffering the pain and spleen bigger in size now. And, i also visited my untie (my dad younger sister), she also has one type of colon cancer after few months my uncle was diagnosed. This was really a sad stories for our family!!!!! I am worried about them.

I was very down and sad after visited them, I was telling myself what can i do for them other than telling them to take care and give them my support. Nothing i can do!!!!..... reason, i do not know anything about their diagnosis and what is the better treatment and many more question...I believe my feeling was the same with other cancer caregiver and family. They felt hopeless and helpness to their love one.

My wish and my mission now is trying hard to learn more about how to help Cancer survivor to overcross all the obstacle in their life. Please spend sometimes to help others cancer survivor in your community because They Need Us!

My great BMA experiences Y2009

My friends, i have something to share to you all...

I had another great BMA experience for this morning...It was PAINLESS!!! Also it was supported by my wife, my buddy Sahimi, Mei Ching, Pat, Dr and nurses. Especially thanks to Dr Habibah and her team for taking of me.

This time, Sahimi and i undergo this BMA process ( It's been plan, and now we will go for every appointment together...hahaha... got gang now). The BMA start, I start 1st then he follow. Our bed just next to each other. As usual i lying myself on the bed and made myself relax and calm. I was fall to sleep easily after given a full sedation. .. My sweet dream start again. I didn't feel anything. No pain at all.

After woke up from sleep, my wife told me after the BMA process has done, i did say Thank you to Dr and shake her hand. And also Sahimi told me i did talk a lot...but can't hear well...( All this i can't remember...hahaha).

I manage to went to the clinic for Dr appointment with Sahimi. Thanks god! Dr Guan told me everything went well on me. And i manage to drive Sahimi to the LRT station.

Thats was my great BMA experience for today! I do not have any more phobia experience ever since 6th Jun 07. Thank you to Dr Chang and his team for his effort to reduce our BMA pain to the minimun or painless. Much appreciated!

My tips to CML friends, pls try this out. It may help u a lot. ( it is only my suggestion)
1) As a patient, we must TRUST 100% TO OUR DOCTOR. (Give our fully trust to the BMA doctor and team)
2) We must ready ourself RELAX and CALM before the process. ( U will fall sleep easily when the sedation are injected)
3) Please ask doctor for FULLY SEDATIVE if can and start the process while u are sleeping.

Enjoy the process !!! No fear, No pain and Sleepwell!

As a cancer patient, we scare lonely, we worry about our future, our emotion is not stabil and we need someone to talk to. We need someone to love us, support us and hold our hand in this journey. Thank god! I am very lucky, I have my wife and family holding my hand for my journey. I would like to thanks my family and my wife, Eleen for her patient, caring and love to me for all this while. She never giving up on me when i was diagnosed in Leukemia. She is my caregiver. We love each other ever than before diagnose in Leukemia. I am living good now because of her.

I will continue offer my hand to others because THEY NEED US!

Who is Max family? Max Family formed in July 2006 by local CML (Chronic Myloid Leukemia) patients, Max Family aims to make a difference in the life of people living with CML by helping them to overcome challenges and improve their quality of life. Max Family supports and helps CML patients by providing information on CML, focusing on the emotional and psychosocial aspects of the disease and advising on various job opportunities (which could help improve patients’ financial status). This support group also promotes self-empowerment and advocacy among patients, care givers and their family members.
